Original 1782 Revolutionary War Pay Certification for DAVID CARVER, JR., BLACKSMITH ARTIFICER IN THE CONTINENTAL ARMY. A great display piece, esp. if you have an early anvil or other artifacts relating to the American Revolution.Carver, born in 1743, was a blacksmith in ColonelJeduthan Baldwin\'s Regiment at Fishkill, New York, and was also employed as a molder at the Salisbury,CT cannon foundry under Lemuel Bryant. Document is signed by JohnPhelps and Neziah Bliss as selectmen, and measures approx. 4x6 in. Some age toning, folds,else fine. Carver served at least three years in the Continental army. He and his wife died on the same day in 1813, and their joint gravestone can be seen at the Andover Road cemetery in Hebron.John Phelps (1730-1814) was a farmer and settled in Hebron, CT. He served inthe Revolutionary War, enlisting in Capt. Hinman\'s Co. Mar. 14, 1777, for threeyears. Promoted to Sergeant Aug. 27, 1778, discharged Mar. 14, 1780, and was fora time under General Sullivan at New York.

Neziah Bliss (1737-1787) is listed as the town Physician, deacon in theCongregational Church and an officer in the local militia.
