On July 13, 1782 a group of young woman and a boy were sailing on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island on there way to Jamestown Island when an unexpectedgale capsized their boat. Six young women and one boy were drowned.I recently discovered a handwritten poem about this tragic accident. The poem is written on hand laid paper and more than likely dates from the 1782. Unfortunately half of the page is missing. There are five stanzas on the front side and another six and one half stanzas on the back side. The author of the poem is unknown. There are some small tears on the folds and some light foxing otherwise this rare Revolutionary War era partial poem is in good condition! As with all my items I am starting this sale at $9.99 with !
