This first Dutch translation of the Hebrew liturgy was published in 4 volumes in 1791-1793 by Leon Cohen in The Hague, Netherlands and was entitled "Gebeden der Portugeesche Jooden, door een Joodsch genootschap uit het Hebreeuws vertaalt" (literally "Prayers of the Portuguese Jews from a Hebrew translation through a Jewish society" in Dutch). Being for the Portuguese Jews, this prayer book followed the Sephardic prayer rite.
