1793 Stampless Letter-lisbon-philadelphia Via Boston- Boston S/l & Franklin Mark For Sale

1793 Stampless folded letter from Lisbon, Portugal to Philadelphia via Boston. Datelined at Lisbon on June 19, 1793, business letter. Manuscript "p the Abigail Capt'n Solomon Hopkins" at bottom, face. Went via Boston, received a Boston straight line handstamp, 24 x 3.5 mm, shows in ASCC as Type 151, 156 (I don't know why they show two different numbers). Franklin Mark, August 4. Manuscript rate marking of 44, 20c rate for 250-350 miles (Boston to Philadelphia), doubled, for weight I suppose, plus 4c ship fee. The letters before 44 might be "Sh" for ship. Or perhaps not.

CONDITION: Fine. File fold. Some wear and toning.
