VERY rare colonial American imprint, printed in New York in 1794; being the first American edition of this particular Book of Martyrs, volume I of the original two volume set. Complete, including the fascinating and gruesome illustrations this is best know for. Original leather boards & spine, with gilt rule and original gilt title label, as shown. Some minor wear and rubbing to extremities, small split at top of the spine, as shown, but preserved nicely with hinges and binding intact. Pages show lightbrowning, some foxing and light staining in places, some light creasing/ edgewear to pages in places as well, but overall great shape. All pages attached and bound, intact. 9\" x 10.5\" x 3.5\". Fascinating find! Good luck!
