17th Century Old Master portrait of a gentleman, oil on canvas. An early bust length portrait of a gentleman in a black coat with buttons and a white band. The composition is typically Italian with the strong light contrast or chiaroscuro. The artist being from the circle of and very much influenced by Giovanni Bernini and his ability to portray intense character.
Restored condition, with a fine craquelure.
