Antique Iron Japanese Swordsmith\'s Tsuba

Made of thick iron, this Japanese Tsuba dates from the Edo period 1603-1868. I suspect that this Tsuba is a very early one. It was found during the house clearance of a collector.

If anyone has any information about when this Tsuba specifically dates from I would be most interested and appreciative to know.

It is decorated with a dragonfly about to land on a Chrysanthemum flower. These details are highlighted in a thick gold-plating.

The Tsuba measures exactly 7.7cm wide by 8.4cm tall and has a thickness of 0.4cm.
