Here is an antique Italian reliquary ...as you can see it is in a white metal silver oval mount.. this is worn and has splits and damage... its not hallmarked.. LOOK at the top fixed suspension loop to see the age and style of this mount.. it has a slight fancy top edge too.
It has 4 small holes in the sides and two of these have fine cotton in them holding the back in position.
The glass that is in the front is really nice quality with hand cut and polished bevels - facets.
Inside it has some very fine fancy little sections with hand written lables and what looks like silver spring like wires between and gold edged card sections.. interesting it is.
The person I bought this from said it was 17th Century.. it could well be I dont know.. so I have simply described it as antique....I am sure you folks will know what you are looking at.
I have NOT been into the back of it.
It is 3 inch long x 2 and half inch wide x 1/2 inch deep sides.. the suspension loop sticks up a further 1/2 inch.
