Fantastic Victorian era art tile more than likely made by the Trent tile company of Trenton New Jersey or the American encaustic tile company of Zanesville Ohio. Many of the tile makers of the time produced tiles that were no more than 6\" x 6\" in size.Aetco, in particular , was known to produce large plaques such as this.
Neoclassical torch with acanthus and ribbons with a decorative border. Deep red wine glaze. A small chip on the right side edge right about center of the tile. Any other edge imperfections are as made and glazed over.
Weighs 6lbs! A rare and spectacular tile.
Measures 18\" x 6\" x. 3/4\" thick.
