DESCRIPTION:
We are pleased to offer this \"gorgeous\" 18\" tall German Schoenau & Hoffmeister doll who shows \"past head repairs\". Incised on the back of her bisque head is \"Germany, star symbol S PB inside the star, H, 58 90\". Reference tells me Schoenau & Hoffmeister made dolls in 1901+ Sonneberg Germany. From a doll estate I do not know her past restoration history but will describe her the best I can with any flaws. This is a bisque socket head on jointed composition and wood body. Body shows wear, scuffs, paint touch ups, some restoration at the lower left leg, see photos. She is strung fine and displays well, all intact. Body is jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs and knees with all fingers and toes. She does not have ball joints at the elbows, possibly she was made this way. Fingers outlined in red ink for that realistic look. This doll has a beautiful \"Dolly Face\" with deep blue fixed stationary open eyes, painted lashes around her eyes, feathered brown brows, open mouth with upper teeth. She has a great face coloring. Her bisque head across the forehead shows past \"line crack repairs\", it looks like a good repair inside of the head, another repair at the back of her head. Please look at close up photos #4 through #8 you can view the repairs. Head is all intact with this repair. Her blonde mohair wig seems to cover these flaws, see photos. There is a cork pate that needs to be glued back on her head, I removed this to be certain her head was repaired inside. Wig is a charming replacement and fits well over the pate that goes over her head. Wears white antique dress with flower embroidery on the bodice, ribbon and lace accents on the sleeves, it is clean with buttons down the back, there is a slip, pantaloons, stockings and shoes. She wears a straw hat on her head. The bottom of the left shoe needs a little restoration, missing the bottom sole.
