1800\'s Gorham Sterling Chatelaine Vinaigrette!
A Chatelaine was a decorative belt hook or clasp that was worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain was mounted with a useful household appendage such as scissors, watch, key, etc, and vinaigrettes such as this! Vinaigrettes were scent \"bottles\" which held aromatic substances such as vinegar or smelling salts what were used by women to combat the aroma from the waste products common in cities!
The vinaigrette is approximately 1 3/8\" wide x 4 5/8\" long. Its cap is engraved \"BLW\".
