TheUnited Stateslarge centwas acoinwith aface valueof 1/100 of aUnited States dollar. Its diameter varied between 27mm and 29mm. The first official mintage of the large cent was in 1793, and its production continued until 1857, when it was officially replaced by themodern-size one-cent coin(commonly called thepenny).

Large cents were made of nearly pure copper, or copper as pure as it emerged from smelting, without any deliberate addition of other metals (such as occurs inbronze).

For sale is a very decent 1810 to 1856 large cent collection. This collection contains 45 different dates and none are with holes or with plugged holes. Missing from this run is just the very rare 1811 penny. The coins are housed in aextremelynice Whitmanalbum which is like new. All dates are readable and most are full, although you might need good lighting to see a few of them. It appears that some of the coins might have been cleaned, none by me. Conditions vary from coin to coin, I have included close up photos of all of the coins, so please grade them yourself.
