John Cary (1754 - 1835) è stato un cartografo londinese attiva nella prima parte del 19 ° secolo
J. Cary ha iniziato il suo lavoro di incisore, cartografo, e creatore del globo nel 1776
con il suo nuovo e corretto Atlas inglese.
Questo importante atlante rappresentato una nuova fase nella cartografia in cui la precisione e il dettaglio
è aumentato in risalto nel corso degli abbellimenti decorativi del 18° secolo.
La padronanza di J. Cary sia di incisione e cartografia portato ad una serie di opere seminali
che ha ridefinito cartografia nei primi anni del 19° secolo.
La sua stupenda opera, cioè quella di John Cary, New universale Atlas, pubblicato nel 1808, stabilito lo standard
per tutti i cartografi che hanno seguito.
J. Cary ristampato questi atlanti nel 1811, 1813, 1819, 1824, 1828, 1833, 1836 e il 1844.
J. Cary ha fatto anche un notevole lavoro sulla cartografia Inglese.
La sua opera cartografica particolarmente ha ispirato la scuola di Edimburgo come rappresentato dal signor
John Pinkerton e John Thomson.

GENERAL REMARKS:THESE MAPS TO BELONG FROM A VERY RARE OPERA, WORLD ATLAS, PRINTED BY JOHN CARY, IN THE 1813...;John Cary (1754 - 1835) was a London based cartographer active in the early part of the 19th century.
J. Cary began his work as an engraver, cartographer, and globe maker in 1776 with his New and Correct English Atlas.
This important atlas represented a new phase in cartography where accuracy and detail rose
in prominence over the decorative embellishments of the 18th century.
This change was indicative of the times when travel and commerce were expanding globally as never before.
Cary\'s mastery of both engraving and cartography resulted in a series of seminal works that redefined
mapmaking in the early 19th century.
His stupendous Cary\'s New Universal Atlas, published in 1808, set the standard for all cartographers who followed.
J. Cary reissued this seminal atlas in 1811, 1813, 1819, 1824, 1828, 1833, 1836 and 1844.
J. Cary also did considerable work on the English Ordinance Survey prior to 1805.
His cartographic work particularly inspired the Edinburgh school of cartography as represented by John Pinkerton and John Thomson.
