A uncommon nine volume complete set of The Works of William Robertson, in attractive leather bindings.

Including a biography of the author, as well as his notable historical works on Scotland, the reign of Charles V, America and India, the volumes are make for a fascinating early history of all of the subjects, and include a frontipiece plate to the first volume, as well as sevenfold-out maps to the latter four volumes.

CONDITION

In calf binding with gilt detailing. Externally sound, there is wear to the boards, joints, extremities and backstrips, with some loss to leather on volume one, as well as strain to some hinges. Internally, the pages are firmly bound but are spotted and creased throughout, with some offsettingparticularly to endpages, platesand maps. Overall: VERY GOOD.
