... an 1825 Capped Bust Half Dollar with nice detail for the grade, which I would judge to be in the high Fine to mid VF range.
This coin features a bold strike on the obverse, with solid hair, cap and face detail, along with good definition of most ancillary devices. The obverse does have a bit of that \"blotchy\" look --typical for circulated examples of this series --due to the wear patterns. Nonetheless, even toning and predictable wear make for an otherwise well-defined range.
The reverse reveals a weaker strike, with more wear throughout. Still, a pleasing amount of grade-typical detail remains in the wings, and especially in the shield and the lettering throughout, making for better than average eye appeal for this grade level.
Close inspection reveals evidence of a very old cleaning, but most of it isn\'t readily apparent, and no hairlines or other obvious deficiencies often seen with cleanings are present.
