The prints were copper engraved on Whatman paper and meticulously hand-coloured. The final result were superb botany prints, with rich and vibrant colours illustrating local and exotic speciesafter illustrious botanical illustrators such as de Candolle, Wildenows, and Sprengels.

The illustrations feauture very particular arrangements of the plants and their parts on the page, rather uncommon in botanical illustrations.
