The only other offering of the 9th edition online shows it ALSO SKIPS from roman numeral xvi to page 25 so author presumably meant to write a longer preface at one time and had the printer commence the actual pagination at page 25. Theother online offering is from a long time, well respectedspecialist in antique medical books and is priced at $385; he would have mentioned if this issue was a problem.No illustrations.Bound in full original calf leather.Book is dedicated to President Thomas Jefferson and the later editions of the bookhave a PRINTED response letter from Jefferson praising the book and which is included in the preliminary (Roman numeral numbered) material.The book is complete but it is split into 2 pieces. The front leather board with attached [2] blank endpapers +pages i [i.e., the title page] thru viii; then as the 2nd piece (see scans), pages ix thru 692 plus the full leather spine and rear leather binding board. Some moderate foxing; binding is rubbed and there is some modest chipping at top and bottom of backstrip. Though in 2 pieces, it looksvery goodon the shelf.FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION, quite clean
