This is one of eight school boy or school girl copy books from the 18th and early 19th centuries that we purchased about ten years ago from a book dealer who was retiring, and which we promptly put away for safekeeping. Its location was so innocuous that we didn\'t find them until last week.Anyway, this one has a name and date: Jane Foster, Kingston, Massachusetts, 1837 Aged 11 years. It has these worn but wonderful covers made of old wallpaper. It measures about 12.5\" x 8\" and has 58 pages plus the covers. It contains mathematics including practical uses such as measures, currency, etc.Worn, especially the covers. Contents are age-toned with occasional light spotting, a little evidence of dried mildew to the final few pages but no musty odor. Binding not at all tight but it all hangs together.
