Arator, Being A Series of Agricultural Essays, Practical and Political.

By John Taylor

Published: Whitworth & Yancey for John Carter, Petersburg, 1818.

12mo. xiii, 13-239pp, errata. Brown calf leather binding with gilt stamped title on red leather spine label. Leather is worn and cracked on spine and covers. Pages moderately toned. Several pages in back have dark damp stains in the gutter.

This book has interesting provenance. The book bears the inscription of \"John A Rogers, Texana Texas.\" This is theJohn Alexander Rogers, Jr. who was a courier for President Jackson to Stephen S. Austin and Sam Houston. In 1837 he was in the Republic of Texas Army. On the title page is a gift inscription, \"presented to J A Rogers, Texas Parrish St. Marys 1837\". In 1837 Texas was a Republic and not yet admitted to the United States. In the center of the title page is an old ink gift inscription from John Du Hart to D Williams. An old faded stamp at the top of the title page is from J A Rogers Texas.

A nice copy of this scarce work.

I\'ve done my best to describe the piece, but if you have additional questions, please don\'t hesitate to send me an e-mail.
