Rare MOP andGOLD French Engagement Folding Knife

*Laurete Avesnes* 1839. In Original Pouch

A knifecould be used as a token of love or as an engagement /wedding knife.

This is a wonderful example of anengagement Folder realized in France in 1839.

Wonderful mother of pearl slabs over steel liners fixed with decorative14 K gold *rosettes*.

14K gold (tested) bolsters, the upper ones with the initials of the twolovers engraved in nice italic letters, front and rear.

Carbon steel blade marked Laurete Avesnes. This markhas been used in 1839.

Blade is in full profile and opens and closes properly with a firm snapand no wobble when opened.

The spring is very strong. The knife measures 14,5 cm when folded and 27,3in fully extended position

The condition is excellent, some overall pitting to the carbon steelblade due to time, MOP slabs with no damage to note.

The knife comes in its original velvet red and green pouch
