1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Token / Medalet Whh 1840-29 For Sale
Rare, original, 1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Medalet / Token. This original 1840 Presidential Campaign item measures approx. 1" in diameter and features a bust image of Harrison in military uniform on the front with the words "Maj. Gen. W. H. Harrison / 1841". Around the rim of the token below the bust and flanking the date are 26 stars representing the 26 States in the Union in 1840. The reverse features an image of a Federal Eagle with a shield breast. Above the eagle is a ribbon that reads “Go it Tip” and below the eagle a ribbon that reads “Come it Tyler”. Around the edge of the reverse are 26 Stars.
This Campaign Medalet is designated by Sullivan as No. WHH 1840-29 - it has 6 bars on the shield and the spray has three berries above and one stem below (lacking berries below).
This wonderful, 1840 William Henry Harrison Presidential Campaign Medal is in very good condition - the strike is strong and crisp with light wear at the highest spots. The Metalet is holed at the top for hanging as is typical of this type of Campaign Token.
