1840s EARLY STAFFORDSHIRE CHINA INKWELL TURKISH SULTAN WITH QUILL PEN HOLDER:

This is an early Staffordshire inkwell from the 1830s or 1840s. It is made in the form of a Turkish Sultan seated cross legged holding his smoking pipe in one hand and large pitcher of beer in the other hand. A square box at his feet is the actual inkwell hole and the pitcher is the quill pen holder (feather quill pen is only for display and is not included).

The multicolor hand painted ceramic inkwell is 4 3/4\"tall and has a white round base....there is an old crack around his neck where it looks like his head may have been broken off and reglued? I cant see any sign of it on back of neck. A small shallow chip on the rim of quill holder-pitcher.Guaranteed original and has great provenance.The number printed on bottom of is an old museum identification number from The Strong Museum of Rochester, NY. This authentic antique inkwell was decommissioned by the museum a few years ago to raise funds for further acquisitions. We were fortunate enough to acquire it from the New England sale house that The Strong commissioned to sell some of their objects of art. FREE POSTAGE
