Reverse: Facade of the Jewish hospitaland above, \"Krankenhaus israel gemeinde\", which roughly translate as,the hospital of the Jewish Community. Made by Hans Friedrich Alsing in HamburgGermany. In very good condition, Solid Bronze, Larger variation medal at 45 mm\', 4 mm\' thick, 42.54 gr\'.
SalomonHeine (1767 – 1844) was a merchantand bankerin Hamburg.Heine was born in Hanover, Germany.Penniless, he came to Hamburgin1784 and in the following years acquired sizeable assets. It was commonknowledge at the time that he was benefactor and patron to his nephew Henrich Heine.Because of his wealth - by the time of his death his estate was worth anestimated € 110million - he was called \"Rothschild of Hamburg\", in allusion to the Rothschildbanking family.
Heinelearned the trade of banking at Bankhaus Popert in Hamburg. Subsequently hestarted his own business as a draftbroker, cooperating closely with Emanuel Anton von Halle. In 1797, togetherwith Marcus Abraham Heckscher (1770-1823), he founded the Heckscher & Co.merchant bank. In 1818, now being the sole executive director, he changed thecompany\'s name to Bankhaus Salomon Heine.
