Selling here is an early "illuminated book" by Owen Jones. \'The sermon on the Mount...\', published in London, 1845. Originally published in 1844, this is the second issue with a revised title-page and alterations to some other leaves.

Small 8vo, bound in period blind-stamped dark brown morocco by Hayday, page edges gilt, upper board detached.

The book measures 12.5cm by 17cm.

The contents are foliated but complete in 16 fo., Illuminated by Owen Jones, each thick card leaf chromolithographically printed to both sides.

Condition: The binding is defective as described above, upper board detached, rather worn and rubbed with abrasion notably to spine ends, corners and bands, the central lozenges containing printed titles on paper, worn with some loss of sense. Contents holding firmly and in good clean condition, if lightly toned and foxed, perhaps heavier to end leaves. Original plain endpapers.
