Includes:

\"Dear Uncle Stephen,

Pa received a letter from you some time ago and then I found out who was sending me those interesting papers that I love to read so well. Ma had said before that she thought likely it was Uncle Stephen or Carlton, who was doing me such a favor. I thank you very much for them. I only wish they were weekly instead of monthly. I will try and improve by them, for I think they contain, not only pleasing, but useful reading. The March number came on Saturday; it containedan enigma which I found very easyto solve, and I have a notion to send it to Washington if they request answers. I am very glad they publish enigmas, for I like to find them out.

I often wish that I could come out toYork State again, and visit Penn Yan, for I remember what pleasant times cousin Helen and I had together. I wish you would come here next Summer and bring her. Please do Uncle.

I must tell you about the nice School we have had here for the last year. Our Aunty Jane has been here teaching us, and our three little cousins, Mr. Woodward\'s children. We had a pleasant room all to ourselves and I think we learned a good deal; at any rate we ought to have done so, for Aunty took so much pains with us. She has been gone a few weeks and we miss her very much, for Ma has hardly time to hear our lessons as she would like to. I studied Latin a few months and like it very much.

Luta went home with Grandpa Derby a few days ago. We miss him very much, for he is so full of life and fun. Little Chester is just learning to talk, and we think he is the sweetest dearest little fellow ever was. Mary and I both sendour love to you and Uncle Carlton, and Cousin Helen. Iwish Uncle Lewis and Aunt Esther would come and see us soon.

Ma sends her love to all her friends. Pa says I must tell you that he expects to see you here next Summer. Tell Cousin Helen I want her to write to me; I wish you would Uncle.

Jane Susan Ayres\"

Very Fine.
