This isan originalenvelope (it\'s real deal--this is NOT a reproduction)that once contained a now-gone letter that was taken to the post office by thewriter and mailed. It is a \"stampless envelope.\" You are purchasing on the postalportion; Ido not have theletter portion.

ONE of the reasons it is collectible isbecause of the fact thatthe local postmaster applied postal markings considered appropriate for the letter\'s journey. In addition to being collectible because the addressee or the town from which it was sent, it is a collectable item ofpostal history because of the rates, markings and usage.

Desirable well-forwarded use.

An 1850s envelope with a black \"MEXICO N.Y.\" and \"PAID\" and Roman \"X\"addressed to\"Miss Sarah E. Fritchen, Bridgeport N.Y.\"

Along the way it was mis-directed to BRIDGEWATERCONNECTICUTwhere a blue-black CDS and a manuscript \"Mis-For\'d\" were applied before routing the envelope back to Bridgewater NY.

Some edge wear and internal strengthening of the flap tears by peelable stamp hinges.
