Description:

An impressive antique early Victorian solid silverdesk inkstand modelled in the form of a classical Roman oil lamp with Griffin\'s head handle holding chain to the lid, the inkwell of clear glass with fine engraved floral decoration, on oval base.

The base and the ink well are extremely finely engraved with Grecian or Roman style decoration, the oil lamp spout providing a recess for a pen holder.

The base of the stand and underside of the inkwell lid are bothclearly hallmarked as follows:

Condition:

In good antique condition, clean and ready to use or display. The side of the inkwell has some damage including an approximately 1 inch long indentation with a small split to the centre (please see image 7). Otherwise the surface is smooth and undamaged - any perceivedundulations from the images are simply reflections. The finely engraved internalglass inkwell is undamaged.Please see the images provided which complement this description.
