- An extremely rare surviving copy of this pre-civil war essay arguing in favor of slavery, in remarkable condition. In two parts, presenting both a scriptural and statistical defense of slavery and the slave trade. Thin octavao 8vo 7 7/8 x 5 inches. 149 pps. 4th edition. Original publisher ads for endpapers, as published. Binding tight, nothing loose or detached. Hinges unbroken. Original publisher\'s brown cloth with gilt titles to cover. No titles to spine, apparently as published. No restoration, totally unsophisticated copy in near fine condition. A few chips to top of spine and spine tips. Covers with some light staining/soiling. Corners and edges moderately worn, some showing through. No writing or bookplates. Some offsetting to endpapers. Pages moderately toned, occasional spotting/foxing. Some page edges chipped, rough from having been roughly opened. Pps 97-143 markedly brighter/whiter but clearly original. A few abrasions to covers.
