The first title page reads : \"Godey\'s Lady\'s Book and Magazine. Edited by Mrs. Sarah J. Hale, and Louis A. Godey. Vol. LIX. - From July to December, 1859, Philadelphia: Published by Louis A. Godey, 323 Chestnut Street.\"
The book contains all 6 of the hand-colored fashion plates. Additionally, the book is illustrated with many plates which are color printed and steel engraved. The plates shows genre scenes & views. There are also numerous wood-engraved illustrations showing fashion, children, sewing projects, etc...
The book measures9 1/4 X 61/4 inches; (8vo); hardcover; **Reboundin modern tan buckram with gilt stamped letters on modern brown faux leather spine label and new end-papers added to front & rear; binding in very good condition; text block tight & boards securely attached;contents age toned & foxed with occasional smudges, small tears & small stains scattered throughout; edges of title page have small tears & small losses / chipping; stains along the sides of the second half of the contents; 568 pages + 4 pages of adverts + plates.
