1859, The Universal Decorator, Volumes 1 and 2 in Single Volume, HB, RARE:
$65.00

Both volumes were edited by Francis Benjamin Thompson, illustrated by William Gibbs, published by George Vickers in London. Volume 1 was published in 1858 and Volume 2 published in 1859. Volume 1 has 108 pages with none of the plates included in the pagination; Volume 2 has 107 pages also with unpaginated plates. There has been some water incursion seen only in the last few pages of Volume 2 - see photo. The cloth boards show storage wear and discoloration - no musty odor; it looks to have been stored in a dry location (was found in said location). Photos show the spine, and front and rear boards. All pages present and not torn, light foxing in multiple places. Original owner signed and dated in 1859 - see photo. A very interesting book with describing motifs and design features in architecture, publishing, and other venues, with 2-column clean and interesting text on design around the world. B11
