1860 Abraham Lincoln & Hanibal Hamlin Presidential Campaign Ribbon, Legends and Beardless Lincoln Vignette Printed in Black upon White Silk, Very Fine.
This well centered and appealing 2.5" x 8" Silk Presidential Campaign Ribbon was issued during Lincoln\'s first campaign for the Presidency in 1860. It features a bold, Beardless Portrait of Lincoln, also known as the “Rail Splitter Candidate” with the legend:“REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES. - FOR PRESIDENT, A. LINCOLN, - OF ILLINOIS.- FOR VICE PRESIDENT, - H. HAMLIN, - OF MAINE.”There is some light even tone, with two horizontal fold wear lines, at the top of the Flagpole and across the top of Lincoln\'s eyes from actual use! Overall, a nice, solid appearing example of this scarce major design and is an excellent candidate itself, for display.
