1860's Civil War Confederate Flag / Presidential Election Patriotic Cover For Sale

Very rare, original, 1861, Jefferson Davis / A. H. Stevens Presidential Campaign Envelope / Cover with "all over" Confederate Flag design but with added anti-Confederate text in the Flag's canton. This fantastic, Confederate Flag Cover illustration measures approx. 5 1/2" x 3" and features an all over design of the first Confederate Flag - the "Stars and Bars" - text in the upper red stripe reads "Jeff Davis" and text in the lower red bar that reads "A.H. Stephens".

We have owned an example of this Cover design that was issued as a Confederate States Presidential Election piece but the Cover offered here was published by a New York Lithographer (The New-York Union Envelope Depot) with additional text within the circle of stars of the Flag's canton that reads "The Pirate Flag".

The lithograph covers the entire surface of the front panel of the envelope and creates a beautiful image of the "Stars & Bars" even though the publisher issued the Envelope as a Pro-Union Cover.

The rare and wonderful, 1861 Confederate Flag design Patriotic Cover is an excellent condition - clean and crisp with some very light edge wear only. This is the entire Envelope and includes both the front and back panels and the original flap closure!!

A VERY rare 1861 Confederate Flag / Confederate Presidential Election / Civil War Patriotic Design Cover and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!
