This Nov. 8, 1861 Letter is written from Camp Douglas Chicago on Patriotic Stationery. He signs the letter to his Mother as Sugar Boy Bob.Said he sold his business and signed up to the 51st Regt. Chicago Legion to be fitted out by the Chicago Union Defence Committee & is to be the best Regiment from Illinois, about 500 in itAlbert has got Command of our co, now out recruiting. There is to be our Regiment, 1 Company of Cavalry and One Battery of six guns. Talks about being on guard duty two hours on and off four. I am going to have a non commissioned office, 2nd or 3rd Sergeant and then I wont have to stand guard., etc The letter is in nice condition. Shipping includes insurance.
