Letter was transcribed by jkpaper27305 and reads as follows...Co. H. 10th Regt. N.J.V.Camp Clay, Mar. 5/62Dear Mother, I received your letter today, and was very much pleased to hear from you. I was sorry to hear that you sere so unwell, but I hope you will be better soon. I am happy to say that I am well and enjoying good health. I went to see the Captain about the certificate, and he said that he had sent a list of all in his company to Trenton, and that a committee would be appointed to wait on all, as their places of residence was designated on the list, and pay them the money, and no certificate would be required. So I suppose you will soon get it, as we are a State regiment now, and entitled to all the benefits as such. Last Sunday we hadan exciting time here. The 66th Pennsylvania raised a mutiny, and our regiment was called out to put it down. However, it was put down without our firing a shot, and the greater part of the mutinous regiment marched off to Washington, where they were sent to other Pennsylvania regiments. I am much obliged to you for you kind advice, and I will try to follow it. No more at present. From your affectionate Son, Benjamin F. PineCamp Clay, Mar. 5, 1862My Dear Sister, I received your letter enclosed with Mother\'s, and was glad to hear from you. I am well at present and hope these few lines will find you the same. We have had great rejoicing here over the recent great and glorious victories also. I expect it was a rejoicing time inthe Northern cities. Old Jeff Davis will soon have to fly to save his head. Give my love to Clifford Weist and Mary Jane, and all inquiring friends. Please write soon again. From your Brother, Benjamin F. Pine.....paper has edge/corner wear, age staining and has yellowed/toned from time...
