Up for sale is a vintage Civil War Era letter datelined Camp near Budds Ferry January 17, 1862. This place is in Maryland. Letter written by Private Charles A Fiske, Company K, 11th Massachusetts Volunteers. Letter to me was quite hard to read, but I did get a little out of it such as .........I have the satisfaction of knowing that we spoilt some of the Secesh plans for smuggling provisions to the Virginia side of the river. We took a dozen prisoners , sent them to Washington, and we took a 12 pound cannon that was going to be sent across to aid the rebels....I would like you to send the following articles.............as soon as you can get them ready. 2 shirts, 2 pair of trousers, 2 pair of socks.............I shouldn't care if you tucked in some apples and doughnuts (?).....................don't forget my razor and shaving apparatus, a ??? shaving cream...................."
