Enrolled 5 Dec 61 from Pequea Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. Also served as a Physician in Martic Twp, Lancaster Co., PA. Appointed Surgeon on 23 Feb 62. Appointed July 63 as Acting Medical Director on Gen. Wessels\' Staff. Appointed 30 Sept 63 to Surgeon in Chief, Dist. of Albemarle and Medical Director. Captured 20 April 64 at Plymouth, NC. Held captive at Richmond, VA. Paroled 30 April 64 at City Point, VA. Arrived 2 May 64 at Camp Parole, Annapolis, MD. Returned 5 May 64 with permission to have furlough. Reported 22 May 64 to the Surg. Gen. Office. Assigned 26 May 64 to the Chesapeake Hospital, Ft. Monroe, VA. Assigned to the Medical Exam. Board. Consulted, performed and or assisted in complex surgery for amputations. Promoted 30 Jan 65 to Assistant Surgeon U.S. Volunteers. Mustered out 8 July 1866. Lived at 51 W. Washington Street, Chicago, Illinois after the war. Married to Lyla who died in 1879. Supposedly became involved in a whiskey distillery and indicted for whiskey fraud of Revenue. Died 27 Dec 1909 in Chicago, IL. Cremated and buried in Graceland Cemetery
