This is a Civil War soldier\'s letter written at Pongo Landing, VA on Nov 27, 1863 and post marked Nov. 29th. It is written by Henry E. Beeby of the 3rd New York Cavalry to his father, Jacob Beeby at Central Square Osweto, NY. The envelope is postmarked \"OLD POINT COMFORT VA\". He says they are with the 98th Regiment, our duty is to hunt Gorrillis and protect the boats on the river. It is away out of the world but the boats run most every day to Norfolk. I will go today to draw forage, clothes and stoves for the men. We have been scouting around since we have been here and have nabbed twelve of the gentlemen, etc. A 2 & 1/3rd page letter in very nice condition. Shipping includes insurance.
