Thomas Carlyle was considered to be one of the most important social commentators of his time. He presented many lectures with certain acclaim. His historical work The French Revolution was the inspiration for Dickens\' A Tale of Two Cities. This collection also includes his famed philosophical novel Sartor Resartus.

CONDITION

In uniform half calf bindings with gilt stamped detailing to spines.Externally, smart withslight rubbing to the extremities and spines. Rubbing is heavier to the head and tail of spines particularly to volumes I, III, V and VII which have suffered a small loss.Heavier patches of rubbing to rear board of volume III. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with spots to the first and last few pages. The odd spot throughout. Overall: VERY GOOD.
