This antique book is titled General History Cyclopedia and Dictionary ofFreemasonry, originally written by Robert Macoy in 1869. The outside binding on both books is in good condition, with some visible but light wear along the spine, face, and outer edges of the front and back covers. The inside binding is clean and intact, and the pages are intact and easy to read, with fine illustrations (upwards of 300 engravings) throughout the book. There does not appear to be any missing pages from this text. The inside of the front cover reads (as best we can decipher),To Wesley Lodge #704 Ft. N.M, Edward C. Mills, March 4, 1936. This book once the property of Mr. B.F. Martin, an early Master of Magnolia Lodge. Mr. Martin\'s father was author of \"History of Columbus.\" B.F. Martin\'s widow gave it to E.C. Mills in 1921.This wonderful vintage book will make an excellent addition to any fine Masonic collection!

This book measures 8 3/8\" tall, 5 1/2\" wide and 2\" thick.

Condition/Details:Bound in brown cloth with gilt lettering to spine and decorative masonic design to front cover, this antique volume is a scarce reference work of freemasonry by Robert Macoy (1815-1895), prominent freemason and founder of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth. He also founded what may be the largest Masonic publishing and supply house currently active. The work contains a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of the author, in-text illustrations and plates The volume shows external age/wear. Mildly age-toned pages are unmarked. Bookplate of the Masonic Library, East Boston, signed by Sir James B. Webster, appears on front endpaper. The book measures approximately 5 3/4\" x 8 1/4\" and contains 700 pages plus 4 pages of publisher\'s advertisements.
