HANDWRITTEN DIARY-------

This 146 year old post Civil WarEradiary was written by WILLIAM A. DAVENPORT, and he lived in Copenhagen, Lewis County, New York. He was born in May 1835, and he did register for Civil War, but I don\'t know if he fought in it. He married Elizabeth J. Boynton in 1860, and they had two children: Grace Stanton, and Sherman Hunt. I will include a copy of his Civil War Draft Registration, and Census/Family info.

I have not read the diary in its entirety, but I paged through part of it quickly and saw he writes of making ice cream and getting ready for a party, drawing wood, attending a leap year party at the hall, Sherman receiving a silver cup for his birthday, breaking out the roads in the winter, taking the train to Watertown, working on the fields, going to Carthage looking for a girl, Emily Knowls marriage, everyone going to Oshkosh to see Barnums show, going to the funeral of Bill Squire, going by train and seeing Niagara Falls, getting a barrel of cider for Lou & George\'s wedding, and there\'s more!

The diary measures 3.25\" x 6\", and it has 310 entries, plus 20 pages in the back with ledger entries all written in lightpencil. The covers are worn, and a section of the back pages are nearly detached from the binding. I will include copies of his Civil War Draft Registration record, and some genealogy info on his family.
