This exceptional and rare commemorative Gorham sterling silver goblet from 1872, was acquired from
the estate of the Rotter family in Monterey, California.
The engraved and appliqued details on this chalice infer that it was made to commemorate some historical moment in U.S. historyIt features two oak branches appliqued to the front surface of the cup. There are engraved crossed arrows and muskets over the American Flag, hanging from an engraved rope border around the rim, on the back side of the cup.The inside of the cup is gold washed and the outside has a satin finish.It is stamped:
