We are listing this Doulton Lambeth brown and tan glazed stoneware motto jug with white sprigged characters. It is marked on the bottom with the impressed number 2088, and the incised artist\'s initials EA - these stand for Elizabeth Atkins (who worked for Doulton from 1876 to 1899). The four motto circles are as follows: THIS IS THE TREE THAT NEVER GREW (with a white tree sprig in the middle); THIS IS THE BIRD THAT NEVER FLEW (with a white bird sprig in the middle); THIS IS THE BELL THAT NEVER RANG (with a white bell sprig in the middle); and THIS IS THE FISH THAT NEVER SWAM (with a white fish sprig in the middle). The jug is almost 8 inches tall, almost 6.5 inches at its widest point, and displays very well. There is a hairline across the bottom of the handle (which is stable), and there are several shallow flakes off the top rim, but these flaws can really only be seen from above. Please view the close up pictures and judge for yourself.

We can currently only accept offers on this from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the sale ending.
