BUY IT NOW receives Bonus Rex Krewe Doubloon. If you don\'t BUY IT NOW you don\'t get the Doubloon: NO EXCEPTIONS!!!Most people fail to realize the difficulty of obtaining medals from the New Orleans Cotton and Industrial Exposition of 1884-1885. Actually, I can\'t understand it myself because, according to the histories, this was deemed a super significant event.
That is why this Liberty Bell medal was made. In effect the Fair was considered of such import that the United States Government consented to have the Iconic Liberty Bell moved by railway from Philadelphia to the Fairgrounds.
It is said that the the transport was actually a whistle-stop event so that people throughout the nation (east coast) could come down and view the Bell as it made its way to the Fair.In any event, these medal are TUFF to find. Most have tinpest or damage. This one looks way better in hand than it does in photos, I think. The accompanying 1960 REX KREWE Doubloon is famous and desirable because it is considered the issue that began the whole Doubloon Throw craze. After 1960 EVERY KREWE began making them, but this is the original. It is in Gem condition, years ago I submitted two from this small cache I found to NGC for grading and they came out 67.....no idea it this one will, but it is about perfect....at least a 65. 66 seems likely, 67, maybe a stretch.ONCE AGAIN: BUY IT NOW ONLY gets the Rex Doubloon....if you don\'t BUY IT NOW, you don\'t get the medal. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
