Behold the first known football card of record, generally recognized a card number 6 (set is alphabetized, not numbered) in the 50 card series: Goodwin Champions. Old Judge an Gypsy Queen Cigarettes are noted at the bottom of the card.
Henry \"Harry\" Ward Beecher was the nephew of the famous author of Uncle Tom\'s Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe.In 1886 he accounted for 33 touchdowns and was made captain in 1887. That year he was named College Player of the Year. He would later become a sportswriter.
Only a couple or so of these cards come up annually, rarely in grades 3 or better that do not have a qualifier. Tough to find, only a total of 42 have been graded by PSA. Corner rounding, surface scratches and lower left corner soft and compromised.
