An 1896 Pennsylvania Soap Company President William McKinley pink soap baby in the original box with both original packing paper and rare Pennsylvania Soap Company advertising sheet. The box is in excellent condition with a couple of minor creases and the baby itself is in real nice condition with some surface cracking, some scraping on the backside and the right foot toes are rounded, not broken as the individual toes are not \"present\" but the foot is whole. Here\'s a brief history of this soap baby - \"This soap baby is from the election of 1896 when the main event was Republican William McKinley and Democrat William Jennings Bryan squaring off against each other for the presidency. This was one of the first truly modern political campaigns and the amount of advertising material put out on behalf of both candidates was staggering. It has been said that more campaign items were issued for this campaign than for any other previously. For the first time, color lithography as we know it was used; and it gave many of the campaign items a great deal of graphic appeal\". Note also the advertising sheet has the Teddy Roosevelt Teddy Bear along with billiard balls and hearts. Back of sheet explains novelty suggestions for proper advertising, etc..
