Maxfield Parrish collector\'s will recognize this as a very rare book that utilizes Parrish illustration as cover illustration, back and front. Maxfield Parrish\'s first cover illustration executed when the author was in his twenties.
- Opie Read. Bolanyo. Rand, McNally & Co, Chicago/New York, 1897. Presumed first edition. (Copyright page lists publisher as Way & Williams 1897 One of the very back pages reads: This book has been printed during May 1897 by the Blakely Printing Company, Chicago, for Way & Williams.
- Rare item listed in key Maxfield Parrish reference guides.
- Frontispiece and illustrations by Charles francis Browne.
- 309 pages. Hard cover. 4.75\" x 7\"
- CONDITION:Good to very good antiquarian condition. (Please also consult photos. They are the best indicator of condition and are considered part of the description.) Quite good condition to cover graphic (same back and front) with some light scuffing. Overall medium soiling or age toning to covers; black spot back cover bottom as pictured (unknown composition). SPINE: graphics in very good condition; moderate soiling and light spotting; worn spine ends with some bending but not splitting. Outer corners bent and worn. End paper age toning and small stains (as pictured) into first blank pages and title page. Previous book seller\'s pencil notations (could be erased). Very light split of front endpapers not affecting tightness or integrity of binding; no split at back endpapers. Nice gilt top page edges and deckle other two edges - no problems.
