Up for sale is the 1899 edition of THE MINERAL INDUSTRY, Its Statistics, Technology and Trade, in the United States and Other Countries to the End of 1898. Edited by Richard P. Rothwell. Published in New York and London by The Scientific Publishing Company in 1899. 982 pages.

A massive yearly mining journal, bound in bright red cloth with gilt-stamped title on front cover. Gilt duller on spine, but very legible. Includes substantial sections on the most profitable of mined ores, including aluminum, antimony, arsenic, borax, carborundum, cement, clay, coal and coke, copper, gems and precious stones, gold and silver, graphite, gypsum, iron and steel, lead, mica, nickel and cobalt, petroleum, quicksilver, \"The Rare Elements\" (radium, polonium, lithium, selenium, etc.), and more.

Several illustrations, with some photographs. Detailed charts in the rear, and lengthy \"Buyer\'s Manual\" containing advertisements for a wide variety of mining machinery and equipment.

Book in overall Good condition. Front hinge slightly shaken, book dusty, and rear Buyer\'s Manual has rippled pages, likely from moisture. Overall a still striking example of this late 19th century mining journal and yearly review.
