Description:

A rare pair of 17TH/ 18THCHANDCARVED WOODENFOOT STIRRUPS FROM A HORSE SADDLE.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN IS UNKNOWN BUT FROM RESEARCH MY UNCLE DID A FEW YEARS AGO THEY MOST LIKELYCOME FROMSPAIN, Indo-Portuguese COLONIAL pieces or possibly from South AMerica - mexico or south Brazil/ Argentina.

The patination andcolour of the wood is stunning. These have decade of dust built up on the inside so they could do with a light clean and polish and that would really bring out the rich colour tones.

There is a slotted hole for for the leasther strap at the top and to the rear the carved out recess for the foot.

Are very unusal and would make great decorator pieces on the wall or just sitting nicely on a large side cabinet.

Condition:Really very good condition for age. As you can imagine these fine pieces were used and so have wear to the footed areas. There arenochips or cracks that weaken the struction. Could do with a clean/ polish.
