Fine 18th Century Wrought Iron Support Hook Spike

Certain to look great on the interior of a Colonial Era home or Decorum, this piece is all hand wrought, blacksmith made with nice early construction!

Pieces such as this were hammered into the mortar walls and wooden beams of early homes to serve as a support hook for various lighting devices, be it tin lanterns, whale-oil or grease burning betty (fat) lamps.

One nice feature of this specific piece is the fact the blacksmith worked in a lovely pattern that features a center heart shaped decoration with off flanking curls.

Measures 8 1/2\" in overall length.

You can see the great period construction. Some slight pitting and blackening from its age, though overall a great example that would look great complimenting any period piece of lighting, or just on its own as a piece of early metalware.
