Description ....ESTATE FRESH PICKS.... I had the pleasure to recently purchase items out of the famous 1769 home of Peter and Delia Bellinger Herkimer . ( Drums Along The Mohawk) Delia Herkimer was the sister of the famous Rev. War General Nicholas Herkimer that died at the Battle of Oriskany, NY in 1777. Peter Belinger married General Nicholas Herkimers Sister Delia Herkimer. Bellinger was commander of the 4th regiment, Tyron county Militia during the Revolutionary War. He also fought at the Battle of Oriskany where Herkimer was wounded and eventually died. This is one of the items that was in the 1769 Herkimer Bellinger home... Late 18th century, Circa 1770\'s Wood, Leather & Brass Document Box or Traveling Coffer. Measures 9 3/4\" Long x 4 1/4\" Tall x 5 1/2\" wide. A wonderful piece of American history!
